Zakkorama 43: An Hommage To Bloggers

Zakkorama 43: An Hommage To Bloggers
The last Zakkorama mix of this year is a special one.
Not the usual mix of songs selected from my archives.
No, this time I would like to pay an hommage to some of my blog-colleagues.
I would like to invite you to visit them and see what they have to offer.
It is also a Thank You from me: through you, bloggers all over the world, I have discovered music I never would have found without you.
Ofcourse this is just a small selection. There are thousands of blogs out there. I can't think of a world without them.

Having to remove last Wednesday's post, makes me think (scroll down to the previous post to read all about it).
Have a lot of fun!
And when downloading, please leave a message and send my love!

SHELLYAN ORPHAN
WE HAVE EVERYTHING WE NEED

2008 saw the welcome return of this British group who were around in 80s and disbanded in 1992. A fine album, good songwriting and arranging. Go to Wild Safari

LOUISIANA RED
DRIFTIN'

A fine relaxing bluesalbum, both acoustic and electric by a living blueslegend (76 now). This one was released in 1999. Go to Bluestown and mark the password!

LITTLE WALTER
CONFESSIN' THE BLUES

Little Walter would have been 78 hadn't he died in 1968. Still he left us with a great deal of recordings with singing and overall astonishing harmonica playing. This 1963 album is a classic. Go to Chris

DOORS
PERCEPTION (bonus tracks)

Ofcourse, the Perception box was a great package with all six studio albums in both audioremastered and 5.1 versions. But how many Doors did not already buy the albums two or three times? And ofcourse, there were a whole lotta bonus tracks included to convince the fans thay had to buy it all over again.
NEVER GET OUT OF THE BOAT brings you all the bonus tracks only here

DENNIS BROWN
SUPERSTAR

A classic reggae album from an (in Europe) underrated reggae legend. It includes some fine cover versions too, like Otis Redding's Dock Of The Bay. Have a fine Jamboree

VARIOUS ARTISTS
One Step Up-Two Steps Back:
The Songs Of Bruce Springsteen (1997)

28 covers of Springsteen songs collected here and some are brilliant. Get them at Zinhof

NEIL YOUNG
LIVE AT CANTERBURY HOUSE 1968

Another release from Neil Young inhis Archive series and this is really a special gem. This is one of his first (if not the first) solo appearances. Fly to JS FREE

THE SPRIGUNS
TIME WILL PASS

This album by The Spriguns, lead by Mandy Morton, who wrote all the tracks is a classic folkrock album. This 1977 albums will be loved by those who also love the likes of Steeleye Span and/or Fairport Convention. Go to EL CAMALEON

AC/DC
Atlanta Dec. 2008

Thousands of bootlegs are to be found here. Sometimes very rare and much sought after old stuff, sometimes very new. Wonder what AC/DC sound like in December 2008 (ofcourse like they always did!!!). Find here a recording of a show they did earlier this month in Atlanta.

I have to tell the music comes in the lossless audio format FLAC. No MP3s! Go to QUALITY BOOTS

QUILL RECORDS:
THE BEST OF CHICAGO GARAGE BANDS

Chocoreve was the first blog I ever visited. This year he specialized in very obscure material from the sixties. Posting happened almost on a daily basis. Yes, i wrote 'happened'. Because he hasn't posted anything since November 6. Just stopped posting without any sign, warning or whatsoever. His last post has a very long comments list of people who are wondering what has happened. And so doI! In the meantime enjoy his Last Post with a lot of Chicago 60sgarage bands. Let's hope Choco returns soon. Visit CHOCOREVE

PETER HAMMILL
VARIOUS ALBUMS

NewMoodsings had a megapost on Peter Hammill. See if you're missing album is listed here

ODETTA
LIVE AT CARNEGIE HALL

Odetta was one of the most characteristic voices in the folk revival and also an active figure of the civil rights movement left us on Dec. 2. She also was one of the first to record an album with just Bob Dylan songs. Odetta was to perform in Obama's inauguration on January 20, 2009. MUSIC TRAVELER has Odetta's live album At The Carnegie Hall (1960). Travel here

DOUG SAHM
THE COMPLETE MERCURY YEARS

This is a great finding. 5 Years after Doug Sahm's death in 1999 a 5CD set was released. It is afcourse THE Doug Sahm everybody knows from the Sir Douglas Quintet. The set contains 6 original albums, all singles, Spanish-language recordings and more. Find it here

WATERBOYS
A PAGAN PLACE

A Classic 80s album to finish. Click on The Big Music to download the album. Go here

Come back on Wednesday when we celebrate the year's end with a festive lookng back at a year in music with a lot of songs you visitors have been contributing.
